  • Cartons and pieces per carton
  • Net and gross weight per carton
  • Master-carton dimensions

Calculation method

Create an export packing-list summary with cartons, pieces, net and gross weight, CBM, plus CSV and print-ready output.

Method: total pieces = cartons × pieces per carton; total CBM = cartons × carton dimensions in metres

Worked example: 100 export cartons

Pack 50 pieces in each of 100 cartons measuring 60 × 40 × 40 cm, at 12 kg net and 14 kg gross per carton.

  1. Total pieces are 100 × 50 = 5,000.
  2. Total net and gross weights are 1,200 kg and 1,400 kg.
  3. Each carton is 0.096 m³, so total shipment volume is 9.6 m³.

Frequently asked questions

What should an export packing list contain?

It normally identifies exporter, consignee, invoice, shipment marks, package range, item or style, quantity, dimensions, net weight, gross weight and total volume.

Is a packing list the same as a commercial invoice?

No. The invoice states commercial values and payment information, while the packing list describes how the goods are physically packed.

Can the CSV replace a commercial packing list?

It provides a planning summary. Add shipment marks, carton ranges, SKU breakdown, consignee details and any buyer or customs fields required for the final document.
