  • Chargeable kilograms or CBM and freight rate
  • Origin, destination and documentation charges
  • Garment order quantity

Calculation method

Estimate main freight, local charges, total shipment freight and freight cost per garment for an export order.

Method: total freight = chargeable quantity × rate + origin + destination + documentation charges

Worked example: freight cost per garment

Chargeable quantity is 1,000 units at $2 each, with $500 origin, $400 destination and $100 documentation charges for 5,000 garments.

  1. Main freight is 1,000 × $2 = $2,000.
  2. Local and documentation charges add $1,000, so total freight is $3,000.
  3. Divide by 5,000 garments for a freight allocation of $0.60 per piece.
