  • Order quantity and garment SAM
  • Operators, lines and shift hours
  • Efficiency and planning buffer

Calculation method

Build a garment production plan from order quantity, SAM, operators, shifts, efficiency, lines and buffer days, then export it to CSV.

Method: daily output = lines × operators × shift minutes × efficiency % ÷ SAM

Worked example: plan a 20,000-piece order

Use two lines, 40 operators per line, eight-hour shifts, 20-minute SAM, 60% efficiency and a three-day buffer.

  1. One line produces 40 × 480 × 60% ÷ 20 = 576 pieces per day.
  2. Two lines produce 1,152 pieces per day, so production requires 18 rounded-up days.
  3. Add the three-day buffer for a planned lead time of 21 days.

The downloadable file is CSV and opens in Excel or other spreadsheet software.

Frequently asked questions

What should be added beyond sewing days?

Add approvals, material lead time, cutting, value addition, washing, finishing, inspection, packing and shipment-booking buffers.

Should every line use the same efficiency?

No. Use style- and line-specific learning curves when available; the single efficiency here is an early capacity estimate.

Why is the plan rounded up to whole days?

A partially required day still consumes capacity and must be scheduled. Use line-level calendars for holidays, changeovers and non-working days.
